About
Jay Ogden is a native Rhode Islander who grew up in Cumberland, but has also lived in Savannah, GA, and Boston, MA while attending art school at both Savannah College of Art and Design and Mass Art.
Taking an interest in art at a young age, he has spent his whole life drawing, painting, and sculpting while utilizing a variety of styles and techniques. Most of his works are ap
proached in very traditional methods while the subject matter is influenced heavily by pop culture including movies, comic books, toys and cartoons. These elements give his art a feel of “immature sophistication,” which is probably a fair term for the artist himself. Jay works with many mediums both traditional and non traditional alike, ranging from pencil, inks, watercolor and acrylic, to cardboard, found items, and one time, due to an accidental X-Acto blade fiasco, even his own blood (WHOOPS!). Not settling on a single style, he works in 2D, 3D, digital, and even musical arts as well, as the front man for a local band.
Jay has over ten years experience teaching art to all ages, including children at a local art camp, and privately to teens and adults. He is as happy in a museum as he is in a comic book shop and gladly spends time in either, pen and sketchbook in hand. Jay lives in Woonsocket with his wonderful wife, dog and five ferrets.
Please feel free to contact Jay with any questions or comments about his art, commissions, or rates.
…or just to say hi.
